Elko, the county seat, was named the "Best Small Town in America"
in 1993 by author Norman Crampon. Since then the town has grown too big
to be included in Crampon's list but the qualities that made it number
one remain the same. Elko County is located in northeastern Nevada and
is the second largest county in the state (17,135 square miles).
A variety of quality attractions await you, from fast-paced casino
action to the solitude and scenic grandeur of the Ruby Mountains.
Elko is bordered on the north by Idaho, and on the east by Utah.
The City of Elko, the County seat, is 290 miles east of Reno, 241
miles west of Salt Lake City and 246 miles south of Boise.
If you long to shake off the city and explore the country’s
natural beauty, set your sights on Nevada. With 48 million of
Nevada’s 70.2 million acres of mountains, lakes, rivers and
forest available for adventure, the Silver State offers endless
opportunities to take a break from your daily demands and absorb
yourself in Wild West terrain.
Nevada has set aside thousands of acres for off-highway vehicle
(OHV) recreation, a fun way to explore the wide-open spaces.
Dozens of trails offer challenging rides and are notable for
their magnificent scenery and attractions.

Do I have to have a well driller’s license to drill my own well?

Across Goshute Valley toward Pilot Peak
The Toano Range from the Pilot Creek Valley, Nevada, looking west. This range seems to be an arbitrary name for the northern part of the Goshute Range. There is an obvious break in mountain ranges at Silver Run Pass through which Interstate 80 passes, but it is called the Toano Range to both the north and south of this low pass.
Lamoille Canyon .... is the largest valley in the Ruby Mountains, located in the central portion of Elko County in the northeastern section of the state of Nevada. Approximately 12 miles (19 km) in length, it was extensively sculpted by glaciers in previous ice ages.
